Tortuous Decisions

Is it better for radical clerics to remain in the UK or deport them, even if it is to a country where torture is a "serious risk"?

If radical clerics agree with the principles of Sharia law or have done nothing wrong, why should they fear torture anyway!?!

Fringe, I do accept your point from a 'Western' perspective. However, if you are a radical cleric who abhors "decadent" western values, how can you rely on those same "decadent" western values to prevent being tortured yourself!?! You may 'deserve' it under Sharia law...

If they faced the death penalty at their home country, wouldn't it amount to a form of martyrdom? I thought they were all for that sort of thing - 70 virgins in paradise and all that jazz.

IF someone poses a threat to Britain, then they need to be deported – whether or not there is a risk of them being tortured or facing the death penalty. As Gerald Howarth said, “if you don’t like our way of life, then get out”.

As you say, most of those who will be deported will go to countries who share their values and morals, so they wouldn’t have anything to worry about.
