Old, bold car drivers?

Studies by the Department for Transport [suggest] that young men [] aged 17-20 are almost 10 times more likely to die or be seriously injured while driving compared with men aged 40-59.

Do only the safest drivers survive into middle age!?!

There are old pilots and bold pilots; but there are no old bold pilots! - E. Hamilton Lee, 1949.

I suppose girls are considered safer. Well I remember asking my twin brother to take me out for a lesson in my mum's mini without her say-so and feeling terrified down a country lane as a car came the other side, and we scraped doors - my fault, of course.

I did go on to eventually pass my Advanced Motorist Test, teenagers will be teenagers!

Now my mum's the worst driver in the world, short sighted and hopeless at crossing junctions. I'm sure it is the older people who are the menaces on the road.

Ellee, that's a good point about the risks posed by older drivers. At least they tend to drive more slowly than other road users!

However, it can be frustrating to get stuck behind an old woman driving a Metro! It's my vision of hell on Earth!
