Migrant myths?

"Migrant crime fears 'unfounded' " - BBC News Online.

"Migrant crime wave a myth - police study" - Guardian Newspaper.

What about immigrants from outside the EU!?!

PS Do crime rates fall if people are fearful of going outdoors at night!?!

Or British minorities. We have just been told that there have been reductions in crimes (yeh right!) in London apart from those covered by operation Trident.

Today's migrant is tomorrow's British minority and it makes little sense to draw an entirely hard and fast distinction between the two, especially when significant numbers identify at least as much with the country/culture of origin as with the UK .

I cannot work it out.

25% of prisoners are immigrants.

Immigants are far, far less than 25% of the population.

Who says immigration has no effect on crime?

Anonymous, perhaps that's why immigrants commit so few crimes - they are already locked up in prison!!

This was a good news report into crime and immigration and is therefore to be widely publicised. The West Midlands police report that showed massive incidence of organised crime amongst the new Somalian community was not fit to be released to the public.

> 25% of prisoners are immigrants.

Does that include those immigrants who are locked up BECAUSE they're considered illegal immigrants, or those who are waiting for asylum applications to be judged?

Actually the 25% figure is foreign nationals.

When you add in immigrants who are now British citizens the figure is far higher.
