Teflon Tony & Brillo Pad Brown!

If Tony Blair claims that Gordon Brown "is not to blame for Britain's economic woes", was Gordon Brown wrong to claim credit when Britain's economy was doing well!?!

I like the bit where Blair says 'All leaders are going through a problkem' So of course people who can't lead at all are having a worse time of it.

The answer to your question is, 'Yes, he was wrong to claim credit when things were going well.' Because things had to go wrong eventually.

It seems the government just did not recognise the inevitability of an economic downturn. They created open-ended welfare obligations on the back of the global upturn and based their reputation for financial competence on advantageous circumstances that were actually way beyond their control.

Labour made a massive strategic blunder when accepting credit for that which they were not responsible for. It's fitting that the boast should come undone so badly for them.
