Barry George is innocent!

How could a "loner" with an "exaggerated interest in women", "complex medical problems" and a "personality disorder" murder Jill Dando and leave no forensic evidence whatsoever!?!

Jill Dando was undoubtedly a "kind and generous" woman and Barry George is undoubtedly odd, however, that's not sufficient to convict someone of murder!

I wouldn't go as far to say that Barry George is innocent but there is certainly not enough evidence to convict him.

Well the BBC has already convicted him.

On the main BBC TV news last night the opening remarks of prosecuting counsel were delivered (almost) verbatim to the cameras, together with copious soft-focus pictures of Jill Dando being cuddly. The BBC knows that such opening remarks are almost purely "puff" (ie the prosecutors say "X did this, X did that and we'll prove it") and lay out the general case against the defendant. Opening remarks are not proof of anything and are effectively just a statement of intention. It's a step in a formal game and the BBC knows it but, hey, this guy has already been found guilty once of killing one of their own so let's get him!

Richard, if there is not enough evidence to convict him then he is surely innocent!

If the UK had retained the death penalty, would circumstantial evidence to merit his execution "beyond all reasonable doubt"!?!

I fear that the Police had to secure a conviction due to the high profile of the victim and looked for anyone who could vaguely appear guilty! One mere speck of evidence is not enough!

I always thought it was innocent until proven guilty.

Silly me.

From:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2008/jun/10/ukcrime

"Police found thousands of undeveloped photographs of women at George's home, among them pictures of the TV presenters Anthea Turner and Caron Keating."

Does that mean, then, that they did not find photos of Ms Dando? I think we should be told.

It seems clear that Mr George is a loner with a fascination for celebs. Does that make him Ms Dano's murderer I wonder?

Let us have some hard evidence, please.

If it does, half the readership of Hallo magazine should be in the dock with him.

There was no forensic evidence to link Barry George to the murder of Jill Dando. To my mind it was never proved 'beyond reasonable doubt'. As my old mum used to say 'there is many an innocent man hung on circumstantial evidence'
I think there was so much pressure put on plod, that they found someone they could get convicted.

I think that this was the first time I realised, with a cold shock, that they were actually going to convict this person, on NO evidence.

If you ask me, the original jury should be charged with kidnapping. In an earlier age, they would have been responsible for murder...

Some people, including Cherie Letter-Box 'I am the Chairperson of the Street Crimes Commission', under the manipulation of her husband who was Prime Minisrer when all this Street Ctime began to happen, are simply incapble of saying the word 'gun' without adding 'crime'. So what Barry George got under Tony the Innocent was a Show Trial and th eevidence wqas rifgged. Do I believe that he was capable of doing it, including the recovery of the spent cartridge case which had been spat out somewhere from the semi-auto.Of course not. This has to have been a planned hit. If only the people in power making ridiculous decisions knew anything at all about firearms. Adrian Gowing (Happily shootng every weekend with a French pistol club)
