The NHS - a hard day's night?

How will longer hospital opening hours reduce waiting lists if it is not accompanied by recruiting additional staff to work those hours?

Staff working 40 hours per week over four days rather than five does not increase the total amount of work done!

Will waiting lists increase as a day off sick will now represent 10 hours work lost rather than 'just' 7.5 hours!?!

You are quite correct, apart from the fact that more staff would be required, where would the extra staff come from??
Hospitals are being closed, where on earth are the extra beds to be found??
Some hospitals are actually putting some operations off until the next financial year, so where would the extra money come from to pay for more operations now??
I firmly believe that Bliar and N.Lab live in some fairytale land.

Honestly Snafu, don't you know? Tony Blair is a saint, God bless him and all who he cadges holidays from....

St Tone can see the global vision while all us mere mortals are wrapped up in our own little worlds of irrellevance. Give the man-god a chance, he's an ordinary kinda guy, in a deified kinda super being kinda way - trying to get on with 'the job'.....

Legacies have to be worked on, even when you're a demi-god like Jesus C. Blair - today it's sorting out the NHS, job sorted! Tomorrow it's sorting out Africa, job pending! Wednesday it's gun crime job feeling your pain but now getting tough on the causes of bad headlines! Thursday it's Global warming job telling dubbya to turn the bloody lights out! Friday is a jammin' sesh with Bono, the Edge and Sir Bob.... well, everyone needs a day of rest, especially omnipotent beings, just ask God.....
