Trouble at the top

Do Liberal Democrats really think that a change of leader would improve their electoral chances? Liberal Democrats need to broaden their appeal beyond students, pensioners and the South West of England if they are ever to threaten the Conservative Party nationally as the "real opposition".

Whilst it would be an electoral nightmare if the Liberal Democrats ever won power, they frequently give the impression of being better organised locally and more earnest in holding the Government to account than the Conservative Party.
