What is it about Gordon Brown and responsibility?
Practically his first role as Chancellor of the Exchequer was to give responsibility for setting interest rates to an independent Bank of England, and now as Prime Minister, he wants to give up his power to choose Bishops and declare war to Parliament less than one week after coming to office!
How can Gordon Brown really give MPs more powers when the European Union supposedly creates 80% of Britain's laws and regulations?

Because as we know it is a token gesture. The the great unwashed it is a sign he is listening.
The "independant" BoE commitee was hand picked by one G Brown (order of the rocking horse)
What anticitizenone said: the MPC is as independent as the . . er . . Electoral Commission or any NHS trust.
The MPC is a charade since it works its magic on a manifestly incorrect and misleading index of inflation. "Real" inflation is well above 10% and rising.
