As some bright spark pointed out, if Paulson et al hadn't been threatening doom and apocalypse were the bailout to be rejected, nobody would have been worried about it, so it's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

As FDR might have said "The only thing we have to fear is Hank Paulson himself".

Haven't these morons heard about 'debt-for-equity-swaps'?
