His Disgrace the Archbishop of Canterbury

When will Rowan Williams leave the UK and flee to a Christian country!?!

"The Archbishop of Canterbury [believes] that some Sharia law in the UK seems "unavoidable" "

PS How can Gordon Brown condemn Sharia law when Scottish law is also different to the law in England & Wales!?!

PPS What changes have been made by the Government to 'Stamp duty' as a sop to Sharia law!?!

PPS Muslims should have to choose between "the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty", everyone else does! No one is forced to live in the UK and the borders are porous!

PPPS "Nobody in their right mind would want to see in this country the kind of inhumanity that's sometimes been associated with the practice of the law in some Islamic states; the extreme punishments, the attitudes to women as well." Would the Archbishop be allowed to decide which elements of Sharia law are acceptable in the UK!?!

In theory some aspects of the Shariah system, if not illegal under UK law, have some things to recommend them as compared to our costly legal system. I would personally be happier to voluntarily submit my dispute with a neighbour to an informal Islamic court than to a bunch of costly self-seeking lawyers.

The problem is in the realities as Jack Straw seems unable to recognise. When it comes to family law in Islam "voluntary" does not necessarily apply. How many women will be pressured into accepting the edicts of an unfair system?

The reality is that in family disputes there is no place for Shariah law, Legal or not, Muslims should submit to British legal systems or f* off somewhere else. I personally will not miss any of them.

In view of all the total crap this bearded idiot comes out with I have nicknamed him the Arsebishop Of Canterbury. I wil gladly waive my copyright to this term in return forr wider use. GET THIS IDIOT OUT!

On SDLT, because they aren't supposed to pay interest, they buy a house, sell it straight on to the bank, and then instead of paying capital plus interest, they pay monthly 'rent' for 25 years and then the bank gives them the house back. I think the transfer back is SDLT exempt, because the substance of the transaction is of course a purchase mortgage.
