Vive la difference!

When will the UK electorate be offered a right wing leader promising to cut taxes, crime, immigration and welfare whilst shouting "work more to earn more"!?!

By contrast, Britons are offered an inert choice, no wonder turnout never reaches the French 85%!

Unfortunately Sarkozi appears to have a downside, another EU federalist. Still, at least he is opposed to Turkish membership.

Let us hope also that tough on immigration does not mean shuffling as many as possible off on us. I seem to recall that when The Nethelands got tougher with Islamists they all made a beeline for the UK. What we need is a tougher more nationalist UK government, I am not sure that the right attitude in another country's leaders necessarily helps us at all.

Xoggoth, totally agree! I am sure he will be keen to build a couple more Sangattes and encourage asylum seekers to pass freely through France to claim asylum in the UK.

Helping the French whilst upsetting the English has always been popular in France!
