Why are British authorities getting involved in the case of trainee NHS doctor Humayra Abedin when she is not a British national?
Is it a classic example of cultural imperialism!?!

Beware the fury of a patient man. - John Dryden

The BBC reports the FCO admission that the order issued by the High Court would be of nil legal effect [1], so why didn't Mr Justice Crap throw the case out when the FCO applied for the order? It can only be that this is an extension of the Labour policy of "legislation as PR" to "litigation as PR". Presumably, it's part of our "moral leadership" role in world affairs. Like bankrupting ourselves to have a non-existent effect on climate change and throwing money at Africa so that the thieves in office can have a Mercedes and a Swiss bank account.
[1] [from your quoted news item] "The British High Court had served her family with an injunction under the Forced Marriage Act ordering them to free their daughter and allow her to return to the UK.
However, this was not enforceable overseas because Dr Abedin is not a British national.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said the order was issued in the hope that it might "carry some weight" within the Bangladeshi court system."
