Knives out?

Will hospital visits to see the victims of knife crime encourage more youths to carry knives to avoid a similar fate!?!

Possibly. But that's not the point. The last thing that a knife attack victim in A&E needs is to be gawped and laughed at by hoodies. Ditto families of such victims. It's only the last suggestion - prison visits - that makes sense.

A mandatory prison visit of five to ten years will reduce knife crime no end.

It suggests that the people doing the stabbing are all nice young men who only carry knives in self defence, only use them when attacked and would be horrified when confronted with what they had done.

What a load of crap. Going from the news items most perpetrators (and many victims who are also gang members) are vicious bastards whose actions are quite deliberate. In several cases they have gone out looking for the victims or pursued them.

Going from the reports in the papers, at least 5 of the 1st 20 knife murders this year appear to be by immigrants but we are not supposed to ever mention that of course. The government endangers us all, especially British born members of the same communities who are the usual victims, by failing to have proper controls.

Sending knife wielders to hospital casualty to look at the victims of knivery?...

What an appalling thought! Is the government aware of the risks associated with such foolharderyness?...

Have they never heard of MRSA?

Or maybe that's the plan.... When some blade carrying sleezeball is hauled in by plod - "Listen scum, start behavin' or else. No cushy prison cell, no pansy community work - naw, much worse for you, Sonny, we'll dump you at Casualty...... Have you seen what happens when someone catches MRSA, punk?"...

BTW, I love the name of the new gov' appointed 'Knives Czar'.... one 'Alf Hitchcock'.

You can just imagine having been christened 'Alfred', how many hours of tortuous thinking went in to trying to disguise the fact that his parents had a bit of a sense of humour.... "I know, I'll shorten 'Alfred' to 'Alf'..... Brilliant!"

Still, he should be thankful for small mercies..... at least his name wasn't Wayne Carr....

Mark, I agree with what you are saying.

However, I can see the hospital visits descending into farce as the perpetrators are shown where they should have stabbed their victims to kill them!
