Why should rail staff be expected to tell passengers the "best deals" on rail fares?
Do Tescos staff tell customers what are the best deals on baked beans each day or are customers expected to find out for themselves!?!

And it's precisely for that reason I take first class singles on long journeys, since they're cheap as chips.
Telling people about it would only increase the likelihood of them being sold out by the time I buy my tickets.
