If you walk down a dark street at night covered in gold jewellery and happen to be mugged, how many people would say that you were in no way to blame for your plight?
You do not deserve to be mugged but your irresponsible actions have contributed to it...

Hmmm. One never knows how these sorts of surveys are worded. Do many of those who supposedly think "they deserve it" really think that or do many really mean that in today's world it pays to be more cautious?
