We should not allow people to take out that tenth credit card without the credit card company knowing about the other nine. - Shadow chancellor George Osborne.
Why aren't lenders already concerned about the other nine credit cards when lending money? The lender should decide the amount of risk being carried on their book, not some MP!
If the Conservatives really want to tackle the growing personal debt "crisis", they should offer tax cuts!

Two points:
1. Any time I've applied to have a new credit card the application form asks what other cards I've got: so they do know.
2. Who is the "we" Mr Osborne is referring to? At a guess it's the men from Whitehall and Westminster - the omniscient civil servants and politicians who have given us (paid for by our own money) the splendid systems of education, health, law and order etc which we enjoy today. Maybe if "they" stopped telling us what to do and allowed people to suffer more often the consequences of their own conduct there would be less over-borrowing.
