The issue in Palestine is not about creating a single culture or a single identity; it is a recognition that the best chance of stopping all the violence is to come to a 2 state solution. No comparison with Britain exists in any kind.
The author isn't comparing the Palestinian territories with Britain, Tony. You've either misread or misunderstood the question, which is, I think a fair one.
