Is support for the BNP understated if people who publicly support it are ostracized?

I expect more people support and vote for the BNP than are prepared to admit to it in polite company. The BNP's real problem will be in getting good-quality activists and candidates, when being outed as a BNP activist means you're likely to lose your job or be otherwise victimized.
