Roundheads at loggerheads

Home Office attempts to ban the sale and manufacture of replica guns could have at least one unintended consequence. Civil War re-enactments would need to use broomsticks or table legs rather than muskets unless they are exempted from the legislation.

Why does the Home Office think banning replica guns will reduce crime when so many criminals continue to use real guns?

Many would say that anything preventing these sad bastards from their re-enactments is a good thing!

Replica guns are a problem - some can be customised to fire real ammunition. One would have thought that some sort of commonsense was needed though. As far as I know, the Operation Trident team haven't reported any musket-shot injuries...

This is just a knee-jerk reaction to show that they're doing something. It won't achieve anything but they can't be seen to be doing nothing.

Astolath, you've got a point but it is a free country!

Maybe too many civil servants have watched "Lock, stock and two smoking barrels"!

And while the plod are busy rounding up the last of the King's Musketeers, it will keep them from having the 'resources' to take on heavily armed Jamaican yardies - and no-one's going to cry racism either. A good deal all round as far as they're concerned. Tossers....
